The children each vote for one boy and one girl in their class. This means we start with eight councillors to represent the views of the pupils.
Meetings are held in which ideas from their classes are put forward by the councillors for discussion. Topics can range from how to improve playtimes with new games or equipment, suggestions for activities for fund raising or new ideas to help make our school an even happier place to be. The minutes of the meetings are then shared back with the classes and further discussed. The councillors may also represent the school at celebrations, public events and even help at cake sales.
After Christmas, all the year groups including reception this time, vote again for new councillors. This process is repeated again after the Easter break. This allows for more children to have the opportunity to enjoy representing their class and the school. The councillors particularly enjoy the honour of wearing their school council badge.
